IT Class

Information Technology is one of the subject in the second semester under the course National Diploma In Quantity Surveying and covers the areas of Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, AutoCad, etc.

Our IT lecturer is Mr. C. Edirisooriya is a Civil Engineer where he was obtained his degree from the University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. At present he is working at the Road Development Authority under the Ministry of Highways.

My Working Place

Presently I'm working at the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) which is under the Ministry of Disaster Management and one of the youngest ministries in Sri Lanka. NBRO was established in 1984 to aid the "Gam Udawa" programme which was implemented by the government.It was held under several ministries like Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Housing & Easterner Development etc.

At present NBRO mainly concentrated on Land Slide studying and mitigation work.

University Of Vocational Technology

University of Vocational Technology formally known as the National Institute of Technical Education Sri lanka (NITESL) was established by the Sri Lankan government by the Act No.31 of 2008 of the University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC) passed on September 09,2008.

The University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC) was ceremonially declared open by His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa, the president of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, on the 31st of March 2009 at 10.00am at No. 100, Kandawala , Ratmalana.

Hon. Piyasena Gamage, Minister of Vocational and Technical Training, Hon. Dayahritha Thisera, Minister of Skills Development, Hon. P. Radhakrishnan, Deputy Minister of Vocational and Technical Training, several other ministers, Prof. Kapila Gunasekera, Vice Chancellor, of the UNIVOTEC, Mr. K.A.H Kalugampitiya, Director General of UNIVOTEC, and heads of the institutions under the purview of the Ministry of Vocational and Technical Training also participated in the inaugural ceremony.

Bogoda Temple

Bogoda Temple is one of the ancient temples in Sri Lanka which has a history up to the King Walagamba. Temple is located 10km from the Haliella town on the Ketawal road. There are two main significant features about this temple.

  1. Timber Bridge.
  2. Dragon Pardon above the Buddha statue.
Timber Bridge.
This bridge was constructed using only timber. Still it is in good condition.This is the only bridge which was constructed using only timber in Sri Lanka.

In all the other dragon pardons in Sri Lanka, dragons are facing each other in. But inside the temple there is one pardon where the two dragons are facing front.







Dunhinda Water Fall




Dunhinda water fall is located in the Badulla district in the Uva province. This can be accessed by traveling about 5 km from Badulla town along the Mahiyanganaya road towards Mahiyanganaya. It is one of the most beautiful water fall in Sri Lanka.
